What does it do?
|
|
|
PractiCount & Invoice is a quoting and billing software for professionals who invoice based on counting words/lines etc. You create a customer database, fill in your personal information, the reporting engine counts up the words/lines/pages and quotes the price based on your price per unit. And there you have it - an invoice is created by the click of a button!

How does it work?
|
|
|
There are three main screens: File Selections where you choose which files to analyze, Settings where you define what to count in the selected files and Report where you see the result of your analyze.
|
|
|
The Settings screen is very detailed and divided into sections. The general section lets you define if you want to include footnotes and textboxes etc. In the additional section you can for instance decide to exclude all numerals or count returns as a character. The advances count section lets you count lines and pages and also define yourself how long a line respectively page is. In the HTML section you can define whether to count scripts, alt tags, meta tags etc. In the settings screen you also have the possibility to define your own delimiters or use the standard MS Word delimiters.

From the Report screen you can either export the information to a word or excel file, you can print it out, or you can create an invoice. You also have the ability to add a tax value to your report. The invoice created is quite professional and contains all relevant information. You even can choose if you want to add a comment column or not. You can print it out, export it to word or email it directly to the customer.

Through the Invoicing menu you register your personal information plus the information regarding your clients. The Edit Report menu lets you customize the report screen. You can decide which columns to display, import reports, delete cells etc. In the File menu you start analyzing the files you've selected in the File Selection screen or you can start an online currency converter.
|
|
|
PractiCount works with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WordPerfect, HTML and PDF files. It counts words, characters, lines, pages in multiple files, folders, and subfolders. It also counts text usually missed by MS Word - textboxes, auto shapes, headers, footers, annotations, footnotes and endnotes.

What it isn't!
|
|
|
This is not a freeware. You might download a trial version and test the program for 15 days before deciding if you want to purchase it or not. The Standard Edition costs USD 59.95 and the Business Edition costs USD 99.95. The Standard packet does not support network drives on other computers whilst the Business software does.

|
Is it easy to use?
|
|
|
The program is developed in a professional manner. It has many functions and requires a little bit of experimenting before every setting is correct. But all in all I found the program to be very easy in use and had no severe problems whilst testing it out.
